Las Vegas, Nevada – Nevada Fertility Advocates (NFA) is pleased to announce that it has been granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and is recognized as a charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service. With this exciting news, NFA becomes the first state-focused nonprofit organization in Nevada dedicated to advocacy around infertility. “Our exempt status will allow us to make an even greater impact in the state of Nevada as we continue to support women and men struggling to build their families. I could not be more humbled by this news and am excited for the future of the organization,” said Amanda Klein, Founder of Nevada Fertility Advocates.

With this new status we are also introducing the newly appointed president, Jessica Woods. After a statewide search, Jessica Woods was selected based on her extensive background in healthcare advocacy and legislative success. “I am excited to join Nevada Fertility Advocates after being personally impacted by infertility. There is a great need in the state for a support network to help those who are suffering from the disease of infertility. Through community awareness, legislative action, and employer advocacy, it our goal to change the conversation and treatment coverage options for Nevadans,” said Jessica Woods.

Infertility is a disease characterized by the inability to establish a clinical pregnancy after 12 months of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse or due to an impairment of a person’s capacity to reproduce either as an individual or with his/her partner. Currently 1 in 8 couples have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy. Approximately one-third of infertility is attributed to the female partner, one-third attributed to the male partner and one-third is caused by a combination of problems in both partners or, is unexplained. Additionally, individuals undergoing certain medical treatments, like chemotherapy and radiation, may have unique considerations for fertility preservation.
